The Dandy Warhols use a very reggae-esque technique in
most of their songs by droning off of a chord
prgressions. Unlike reggae, and other rock bands (ala
Jane's Addiction) their droning utilizes the chord
progression for their bass.

In "Godless", as Matias noted, they keep things very
simple, allowing for the ambience to make the song.
The chords remain constant, even though The Dandys use
different combinations of upstrokes and downstrokes to
fill the void, and provide the backdrop.  The chords
are nothing new, and they have been used a million
times, but this song, like all songs on this album,
provide everyone with the foundation of good
songwriting. To play this song properly, us a
customary American strum during the verse, move
backwrds during the chorus, and then start on the
upstroke during the interlude.
