The Man In The Long Black Coat - Joan Osborne sur Guitariff.net
Artist: Joan Osborne (originally Bob Dylan) Song: The Man in the Long Black Coat Album: Relish This is an excellent remake of the Dylan song. I'd started to work it out, before I saw a file of it in the archives, but it has wrong chords, and no solo, so I thought I'd give it a go. Chords used: Dm(x57765) Bb(x13331) Cm(x35543) F (133211) Gm(355333) Intro: Dm Cm Gm x2 (first time is piano or something, then arpeggiate on guitar) Verses: Gm Bb F Dm Crickets a chirpin'................. Gm Bb F Gm There's a soft cotton dress..................... This chord pattern is done twice in each verse, then the chorus: F She never said nothing........................ Gm Bb F Gm She's gone, .................................. The change in the song comes about 2:30 into the song, there are two chords I cannot work out, though the others are definitely correct. the ones I'm not sure about I'll write as F* (it sounds like something close to an F, as the change between it and the Bb is very subtle) F* Bb There are no mistakes........................ Gm F Gm It's true sometimes,......................... F* Bb People don't live........................... Gm Bb F Gm She gave her heart................................... Then comes the solo: e|---------------------------------------------------------------------| B|---------------------------------------------------------------------| G|-10-----------------------10-----------------------------------------| D|----10b(11)rp8h10b(12)-------10-8-10-10brbrp8p0---------8h10b(11)-8--| A|---------------------------------------------------8h10--------------| E|---------------------------------------------------------------------| e|---------------------------------------------------------------------| B|---------------------------------------------------------------------| G|-15b--17b-15-17-15----------15--------------15b(19)~~----17b(19)-----| D|-------------------17-15-------17~~b(20)-----------------------------| A|-------------------------17------------------------------------------| E|---------------------------------------------------------------------| e|---------------------------------------------------------------------| B|---------------------------------------------------------------------| G|-15b(17)r--17p15-------17\10~~---------------------------------------| D|-----------------15---------------10h11p10\8h10b(11)--10-8-----------| A|---------------------------------------------------------------------| E|---------------------------------------------------------------------| Key: 10b(11) =bend note at tenth fret to make it sound like the note at the 11th fret r =release bend p =pulloff h =hammeron \ =slide down fretboard ~ =vibrato note Finally, there are a number of nice little fillers put in, I'll leave you to work them out yourself, but they mostly follow the shape of the Gm chord, eg: e|------------| B|------------| G|-5b(6)r-3h5-| Hope that's nice and easy to follow. Don't hesitate to contact me, I like to get responses. Thanks, Sam Coleman
